about

With one exception, the material for tracks 1–6 is taken each from a single improvisation, lasting from about 12 to 20 minutes, played on a Korg MS10 synthesiser. This material was cut up and assembled, with very occasional treatment, in Audacity. Additional units used included a Finhol Accutronics spring reverb and, on two tracks, a Frostwave Sonic Alienator. Track 7 is a recording by Mark Browne of a solo MS10 performance in May 2019 at Catford Community Centre, which used a modified Frostwave Blue Ringer ring modulator with added filter bank, built by James Walker, who also engineered any internal modifications to the MS10. All such modifications have been made simply to facilitate rapid patch-changing, except for range switches on Portamento and LFO, and the addition of a Sample-and-Hold circuit. (Martin Hackett, May 2020)
